Chemical Peels

Glycolic peels are used to refine the skin’s surface.  They reduce fine lines, lighten brown spots, decrease bumps, even your pigmentation and smooth out mild acne scars.  Peels also aid in the treatment of acne and actinic keratoses, a type of precancerous lesion.

How does a peel work?

A peel is a special process in which varying concentrations of glycolic acid is applied to the skin for several minutes, and then rinsed off.  In addition to peeling away the top layer of dead cells to reveal fresher, healthier skin underneath, glycolic peels also increase collagen production in the skin to help smooth out fine wrinkles.  A series of peels, usually over months, along with a daily skin care regimen will help your skin achieve its optimal appearance.

Will I be able to go back to work?

A glycolic peel is a superficial peel which works only on the topmost layers of the skin.  You may experience some mild redness, and fine peeling three to five days later.  However, no downtime is required.  Immediately after your peel, you will be able to return to your normal daytime activities.
